What Are MRE’s?
MRE is a military acronym for Meals Ready to Eat, and that’s exactly what they are. Each meal is packaged in retort packaging: a heavy duty aluminum pouch covered with a plastic laminate. This pouch is enclosed in a plain brown cardboard box and there are 12 variety meals in a case. MRE’s can be eaten cold, however they are much more enjoyable when heated. This can be done by boiling the pouch in water, using a small heat tab or sterno stove or even on the motor of your vehicle. MRE storage life can be three to five years.
